Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully before engaging Compass Flooring. By requesting a quotation or instructing us to carry out work, you agree to be bound by these terms.
1. Introduction
These Terms & Conditions govern the supply of flooring installation and related services by Compass Flooring (“we”, “us”, “our”), based in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, UK, to our customers (“you”, “your”).
These terms apply to all residential and commercial customers and override any conflicting terms you may put forward unless we agree otherwise in writing.
2. Our Services
We provide the following flooring installation and related services:
- Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) supply and installation
- Carpet and stair runner supply and fitting
- Safety flooring supply and installation (commercial)
- Floor preparation (plyboarding, screeding, DPM application)
- Vinyl sheet flooring supply and fitting
We reserve the right to decline any job at our discretion before a contract is formed.
3. Quotations & Pricing
- All quotations are provided free of charge following a site survey or measurement.
- Quotations are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated.
- Prices are fully itemised and inclusive of labour, materials, and VAT unless explicitly stated otherwise.
- Any variations to the agreed scope of work will be priced separately and require written approval before proceeding.
- We reserve the right to revise a quotation if site conditions are materially different from those assessed during the survey.
4. Acceptance of Work
A contract between Compass Flooring and the customer is formed when you provide written or verbal acceptance of our quotation. This may include confirmation by email, text message, or by signing an order form.
Once materials are ordered on your behalf, the contract is binding and cancellation charges may apply (see Section 5).
5. Payment Terms
Deposit
A deposit (typically 50% of the total contract value) is required upon acceptance of the quotation to secure your installation date and order materials.
Balance
The remaining balance is due on completion of the installation, before our fitters leave the premises.
Commercial work
Commercial contracts may be subject to agreed staged payment schedules these will be specified in the quotation.
Late payment
Invoices unpaid after 14 days of the due date may incur interest at 8% above the Bank of England base rate under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts Act 1998.
6. Cancellations & Postponements
- Cancellations made more than 5 working days before the scheduled installation date: deposit refunded in full.
- Cancellations made within 5 working days of the scheduled date: deposit forfeited to cover material and scheduling costs.
- If you need to postpone, we will do our best to accommodate an alternative date subject to availability.
- We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule if site conditions are unsafe or unsuitable we will notify you as soon as possible.
7. Our Responsibilities
- We will carry out all work with reasonable skill and care in accordance with industry standards.
- We carry public liability insurance details available on request.
- We will notify you promptly of any issues discovered during the job that affect the agreed scope or price.
- We will leave the work area clean and tidy on completion.
8. Customer Responsibilities
- Ensure the area to be floored is cleared of all furniture and personal belongings before our arrival, unless removal has been specifically agreed.
- Ensure safe and adequate access to the property and work area.
- Inform us of any known subfloor issues, damp, or structural concerns prior to the survey.
- Ensure the property has adequate heating to allow adhesives and levelling compounds to cure correctly.
- Inspect and sign off completed work before our fitters leave. Concerns raised after departure may be treated as post-completion defects.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Compass Flooring's total liability to you shall not exceed the total value of the contract under which the claim arises.
We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, or economic losses including loss of profit, loss of use, or loss of business opportunity.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury, or fraud caused by our negligence.
10. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
